Visiting the Sick and Inheritance Advice

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) visited Jabir when he was ill and gave him advice on how to handle his property.

Narrated Jabir: I fell ill, and the Prophet and Abu Bakr came to me on foot to visit me. As I was unconscious, I could not speak to him. He performed ablution and sprinkled water on me ; so I became conscious. I said: Messenger of Allah, how should I do in my property, as I have sisters? Thereafter the verse about inheritance was revealed: "They ask thee for legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus) about those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take care of your sick family members and friends by visiting them; Be fair with your siblings when it comes to distributing your wealth after death according to Allah’s directions; Follow Allah’s directions regarding inheritance so everyone gets their due share without any discrimination or favoritism; Show compassion towards others in need; Treat people equally regardless of gender or social status.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah tells us about the Prophet Muhammad's visit to a sick person. He not only visited him but also performed ablution and sprinkled water on him in order to help him recover from his illness. After this, the Prophet asked Jabir about his property as he had sisters. This is when Allah revealed a verse regarding inheritance which states that those who have no descendants or ascendants should be given their due share of inheritance according to Allah's directions. This hadith teaches us that it is important for us to take care of our sick family members and friends by visiting them and helping them in any way we can. It also teaches us that we should be fair with our siblings when it comes to distributing our wealth after death according to Allah's directions so that everyone gets their due share of inheritance without any discrimination or favoritism.
