Writing a Will in Islam

SUMMARY: It is the responsibility of a Muslim to write their will regarding any possessions they have before they pass away.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: The Messenger of Allah as saying: It is the duty of a Muslim man who has something which is to be given as bequest not to have it for two nights without having his will written regarding it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Write your will regarding your possessions before you pass away
EXPLANATIONS:
According to this hadith, it is the duty of every Muslim who has something that needs to be given as a bequest or will, not to keep it for two nights without writing their will regarding it. This means that Muslims should make sure that they have written down what should happen with their possessions after they pass away. This is important because if there is no written document, then there can be disputes between family members about who gets what and this can cause problems and hurt feelings. Writing down one's wishes in advance helps ensure that everyone knows what was intended and avoids any misunderstandings or arguments later on. Additionally, this hadith teaches us about responsibility; Muslims are responsible for taking care of their own affairs and making sure everything is taken care of before they die so as not to burden others with these matters afterwards.
