Seek forgiveness from God ; Take advantage of God's mercy ; Respect for cycles/time .

This hadith is about the importance of four sacred months in a year. It was narrated by AbuBakrah that Prophet Muhammad gave a sermon during his hajj and said that time has completed a cycle and assumed the form of the day when Allah created the heavens and earth. The year contains twelve months out of which four are sacred; three consecutive months being Dhul-Qa'dah, Dhul-Hijjah and Muharram as well as Rajab of Mudar which comes between Jumada and Sha'ban. These four sacred months are important because it is believed that during these times Allah's mercy descends upon us more than usual so we should take advantage of this period to seek forgiveness from Him for our sins. We should also be mindful to not commit any wrongdoings or sins during this period as it will be taken more seriously by Allah than usual due to His increased mercy at this time.
