Prohibiting Umrah Before Hajj

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) prohibited performing of umrah before hajj when he was suffering from a disease of which he died.

Narrated Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab: A man from the Companions of the Prophet came to Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). He bore witness before him that when he (the Prophet) was suffering from a disease of which he died he heard the Messenger of Allah prohibiting performing of umrah before hajj.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي حَيْوَةُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عِيسَى الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ أَتَى عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - فَشَهِدَ عِنْدَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ يَنْهَى عَنِ الْعُمْرَةِ قَبْلَ الْحَجِّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of following the teachings and instructions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It narrates an incident where a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ came to Umar ibn al-Khattab and bore witness that when the Prophet was suffering from a disease, he heard him prohibiting performing umrah before hajj. This hadith teaches us that we should always follow what our beloved prophet has taught us, even if it means sacrificing something we want to do. We should also be mindful that Allah's commands are above all else and must be followed without hesitation or doubt.
