Sunan Abi Dawud 1685 (Book 9, Hadith 130) #21977
Rewards for Spending and Earning

SUMMARY: A woman's spending from her husband's house is rewarded, and the same applies to a trustee. Both will receive their respective rewards without diminishing the other's.

A’ishah reported The Messenger of Allah as saying When a woman gives (some of the property) from her husband’s house, not wasting it, she will have her reward for what she has spent, and her husband will have his for what he earned. The said applies to a trustee. In no respect does the one diminish the reward of the other.

QUICK LESSONS:
Spend generously on behalf of your family/others; Be trustworthy in your dealings; Do not envy others' rewards

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that when a woman spends money from her husband’s house or when someone is entrusted with something to spend on behalf of another person, they will both be rewarded for their actions. The reward of one does not diminish the reward of the other; both are equally rewarded for their efforts. This hadith encourages us to be generous in our spending and trustful in our dealings with others as we can expect rewards from Allah SWT for our good deeds. It also reminds us that we should not be jealous or envious of others’ rewards as everyone will get what they deserve according to their own efforts and intentions.
