Sunan Abi Dawud 1655 (Book 9, Hadith 100) #21947
The Blessing of Charity

SUMMARY: The Prophet (SAWS) taught that charity should be given to those in need and that it is a blessing for both the giver and the receiver.

Anas said when some meat was brought to the Prophet (SAWS), he asked What is this? He was told this is a thing (meat), which was given as sadaqah to Barirah. Thereupon, he said it is sadaqah for her and a gift to us.

QUICK LESSONS:
Give generously without expecting anything in return

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Anas ibn Malik teaches us about the importance of charity. When some meat was brought to the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS), he asked what it was and was told it was a gift given as sadaqah to Barirah. He responded by saying that it is sadaqah for her and a gift to us. This hadith shows us how giving charity can be beneficial for both parties involved; not only does it help those in need but also brings blessings upon those who give. It encourages us to give generously without expecting anything in return as this will bring blessings upon ourselves as well as others. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us about gratitude; even though we may not have been able to provide something ourselves, we should still be thankful when someone else does so on our behalf.
