Sunan Abi Dawud 1619 (Book 9, Hadith 64) #21911
Giving Charity to the Needy

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that everyone, regardless of age, gender, or social status should give a sa' of wheat to the needy. Those who are wealthy will be rewarded by Allah and those who are poor will have their donations returned to them with more.

'Abd Allah b. Tha'labah or Tha'labah bin 'Abd Allah bin Abu Su'air reported on his father's authority that the Messenger of Allah said: One sa' of wheat is to be taken from every two, young or old, freeman or slave, male or female. Those of you who are rich will be purified by Allah, and those of you who are poor will have more than they gave returned by Him to them. Sulayman added in his version: "rich or poor"
