Praying While Dozing Off

SUMMARY: When praying, one should not doze off and if they do, they should sleep until the drowsiness passes.

Narrated 'Aishah, wife of Prophet : When one of you dozes in prayer he should sleep till his sleep is gone, for when one of you prays while he is dozing, perhaps he might curse himself if he begs pardon of Allah.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful and aware during your prayers so that your worship can be accepted by Allah SWT . Take care to ensure that your prayers are not rushed or done in a state of distraction or exhaustion .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about prayer and how to conduct oneself while praying. It is narrated by Aishah, the wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that when one of us dozes off in prayer we should sleep until our drowsiness passes away. If we pray while we are still drowsy then it is possible that we might curse ourselves without even realizing it as we beg for Allah's forgiveness. This hadith teaches us to be mindful and aware during our prayers so that our worship can be accepted by Allah SWT. We must also take care to ensure that our prayers are not rushed or done in a state of distraction or exhaustion as this could lead to mistakes being made unintentionally which would render the prayer invalid according to Islamic teachings.
