Sunan Abi Dawud 1138 (Book 2, Hadith 749) #21430
Attending 'Id Prayer During Menstruation

SUMMARY: Women who were menstruating were allowed to attend the 'Id prayer and utter the takbir along with the people.

This tradition has also been narrated by Umm 'Atiyyah though a different chain of transmitters. She said: We were commanded to go out (for offering the 'Id prayer). She further said: The menstruating women stood behind the people and they uttered the takbir (Allah is most great) along with the people.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about women who are menstruating being allowed to attend the ‘Id prayer and utter the takbir along with everyone else. The narrator of this hadith is Umm Atiyyah, a female companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This hadith teaches us that even though women may be in a state of impurity due to their menstrual cycle, they are still able to participate in religious activities such as attending prayers and expressing their faith through words like takbirs. It also shows us that Islam does not discriminate against anyone based on gender or physical condition; rather it encourages everyone to take part in religious activities regardless of any differences between them.
