Reciting Verses on Festivals and Fridays

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite two specific verses from the Quran during festivals and Fridays.

Al-Nu'man b. Bashir said: The Messenger of Allah used to recite at the two 'Ids (festivals) and on Friday, "Glorify the name of your most high Lord". (87) and "Has the story of the overwhelming reached you?" (88) He said: When a festival ('Id) and a Friday coincided, he recited them both (at the two prayers).

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was known for his recitation of the Quran, especially during special occasions such as festivals and Fridays. He would recite two specific verses from the Quran, which are “Glorify the name of your most high Lord” [87] and “Has the story of the overwhelming reached you?” [88]. When a festival and a Friday coincided, he would recite both verses at both prayers. This hadith teaches us that we should take advantage of special occasions to increase our recitation of Allah's words in order to gain His blessings. We should also strive to make our worship more meaningful by reflecting on what we are reading or saying in prayer so that it can have an impact on our lives.
