The Excellence of Praying at Home

SUMMARY: Prayer offered in one's house is more excellent than prayer offered in the mosque, except for obligatory prayers.

Narrated Zayd ibn Thabit: The Prophet said: The prayer a man offers in his house is more excellent than his prayer in this mosque of mine except obligatory prayer.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ صَلاَةُ الْمَرْءِ فِي بَيْتِهِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ فِي مَسْجِدِي هَذَا إِلاَّ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ
