This traditions has also been narrated by Muhammad b. Muslim al-Zuhr through a different chain of transmitters and to the same effect. This version adds; He should perform two prostrations before giving the salutation.
The hadith also reminds us that prayer is a very important part of our faith as Muslims and it should be done with utmost sincerity and devotion to Allah so that He may accept it from us. We must remember to take time out from our busy lives to pray regularly so that we can stay connected with Him at all times. Furthermore, by performing these two prostrations before saying salutations we are also showing gratitude for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us throughout our lives which will help increase His mercy upon us even more!
