Sunan Abi Dawud 1021 (Book 2, Hadith 632) #21313
Prostrations for Forgetfulness

SUMMARY: When one forgets something in prayer, they should perform two prostrations.

This tradition has also been transmitted by 'Abd Allah (b. Mas’ud) through a different chain of narrators. This version goes; when one of you forgets (in his prayer), he should perform two prostrations. Then he turned away, and performed two prostrations (due to forgetfulness). Abu Dawud said: The narrator Husain also reported it like al-A'mash.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful while praying , Perform two prostration after forgetting something in your prayer .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer and how to handle forgetfulness during prayer. It is narrated by 'Abd Allah b. Masud and Husain al-A'mash that when one forgets something in their prayer, they should perform two prostrations as a way of making up for it. This teaches us that we must be mindful of our prayers and take care not to forget any part of it, but if we do make a mistake, then we can make up for it with two prostrations afterwards. It also shows us the importance of humility in our worship; even if we make a mistake or forget something, we can still show humility by performing these extra prostrations afterwards.
