Intense Concentration in Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) was so focused in his prayer that it seemed as if he was sitting on heated stones.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: The Prophet was in the first two rak'ahs as though he were on heated stones. The narrator Shu'bah said: We said: Till he (the Prophet) got up.
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأُولَيَيْنِ كَأَنَّهُ عَلَى الرَّضْفِ ‏.‏ قَالَ قُلْتُ حَتَّى يَقُومَ قَالَ حَتَّى يَقُومَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the intense concentration and focus that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had during his prayers. He was so focused and devoted to his prayer that it seemed as if he were sitting on heated stones. This is a reminder for us to strive to be more mindful and devoted when we pray. We should take our time with each rak'ah and make sure we are focusing on what we are saying instead of rushing through our prayers without any thought or contemplation. We should also remember that Allah is always watching us and will reward us for our efforts in prayer.
