Be mindful and considerate of how your actions may affect those around you; strive to be kind and compassionate in all that you do; make small sacrifices such as shortening your prayers or giving up something you want in order to make someone else happy.

This hadith speaks to the importance of considering others in our actions. In this case, the Prophet Muhammad was praying and intended to prolong it, but when he heard a baby crying he shortened his prayer out of consideration for the distress that it may have caused its mother.
