Sunan Abi Dawud 670 (Book 2, Hadith 280) #20961
Keeping Rows Straight During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed people to keep their rows straight and orderly when they are praying.

This tradition has also ben transmitted by Anas through a different chain of transmitters. This version goes: when the Messenger of Allah stood for prayer, he took it (the stick) in his right hand and turning (to the right side) said; keep straight and straighten your rows. He then took it in his left hand and said; keep straight and straighten your rows.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pay attention to detail while performing religious duties

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us the importance of keeping our rows straight and orderly when we are praying. He would take a stick in his right hand and turn to the right side saying “keep straight and straighten your rows”. Then he would take it in his left hand and say the same thing again. This teaches us that we should be mindful of how we stand during prayer so that everyone is lined up properly with no gaps or overlaps between each other. It also shows us that it is important to pay attention to detail when performing religious duties as this can help ensure that our prayers are accepted by Allah SWT.
