Eating While Being Called to Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was eating a piece of cooked mutton when he was called for prayer and he put down his knife and prayed without repeating ablution.

Narrated Ja'far bin 'Amr bin Umaiya: My father said, "I saw Allah's Messenger taking a piece of (cooked) mutton from the shoulder region and then he was called for prayer. He put his knife down and prayed without repeating ablution".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respond promptly to calls for prayers .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of eating while being called to prayer. He was eating a piece of cooked mutton when he heard the call for prayer, so he put down his knife and went to pray without repeating ablution. This teaches us that we should not delay our prayers even if we are in the middle of something else, such as eating or drinking. We should also be mindful that our actions reflect our faith, so it is important to be respectful during prayer by putting away any distractions or items that may disrupt it. Additionally, this hadith shows us that even though ablution is necessary before praying, it can be skipped in certain circumstances if there isn't enough time before the call for prayer ends.
