Sahih al-Bukhari 2163 (Book 34, Hadith 114) #2077
Brokering in Trade

SUMMARY: It is not permissible for a town dweller to act as a broker for a desert dweller.

Narrated Tawus: I asked Ibn 'Abbas, "What is the meaning of, 'No town dweller should sell (or buy) for a desert dweller'?" Ibn 'Abbas said, "It means he should not become his broker".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be honest and fair when dealing with others, even if they are different than us or live far away; strive to treat everyone with respect and kindness regardless of where they come from or what their background is; do not become brokers between town dwellers and desert dwellers in trading activities .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the Islamic ruling on brokering in trade. According to this hadith, it is not permissible for a town dweller to act as a broker for someone from the desert. This means that if someone from the city wants to buy something from someone who lives in the desert, they cannot hire another person from the city to do it on their behalf. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we should be honest and fair when dealing with others, even if they are different than us or live far away. We should always strive to treat everyone with respect and kindness regardless of where they come from or what their background is.
