Time Limits for Daily Prayers

SUMMARY: The hadith explains the time limits for each of the five daily prayers.

'Abd Allah b. 'Amr reported the Prophet as saying: The time of the Zuhr prayer is as along as the time of the 'Asr prayer has not come; the time of the Asr prayer is as long as the sun has not become yellow ; the time of the Maghrib prayer is as long as the twilight has not ended; the time of the Isha prayer is up to midnight; and the time of the Fajr prayer is as long as the sun has not risen.
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، سَمِعَ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ "‏ وَقْتُ الظُّهْرِ مَا لَمْ تَحْضُرِ الْعَصْرُ وَوَقْتُ الْعَصْرِ مَا لَمْ تَصْفَرَّ الشَّمْسُ وَوَقْتُ الْمَغْرِبِ مَا لَمْ يَسْقُطْ فَوْرُ الشَّفَقِ وَوَقْتُ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى نِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ وَوَقْتُ صَلاَةِ الْفَجْرِ مَا لَمْ تَطْلُعِ الشَّمْسُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the time limits for each of the five daily prayers that Muslims are obligated to perform. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that the time limit for Zuhur prayer is until Asar prayer begins; Asar prayer is until sunset; Maghrib prayer is until twilight ends; Isha prayer is up to midnight and Fajr prayer is until sunrise. These times are important because they help Muslims stay on track with their religious obligations and ensure that they are praying at the right times throughout their day. It also helps them to be mindful of how much time they have in a day and how best to use it in order to fulfill their religious duties as well as other tasks or activities that need attention during those hours.

The values taught by this hadith include punctuality, discipline and responsibility towards one’s faith as well as being mindful of one’s actions throughout a day so that all obligations can be fulfilled in an orderly manner without any delays or procrastination.
