The Inadmissibility of Nabidh for Purification

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to use nabidh for purification if one is sexually defiled and has no water.

Narrated Abu Khaldah: I asked Abu'l-'Aliyah whether a person who is sexually defiled and has no water with him, but he has only nabidh, can wash with it? He replied in the negative.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic Law regarding Ritual Purity & Cleanliness

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Abu Khaldah speaks about the inadmissibility of using nabidh for purification if one is sexually defiled and has no water. According to Islamic law, it is necessary to perform wudu or ghusl when a person becomes ritually impure due to sexual intercourse or other reasons. Wudu requires the use of clean water, while ghusl requires a large amount of it. However, if there is no access to clean water, then one can make tayammum with sand or dust instead. But according to this hadith, it is not permissible to use nabidh as an alternative for purifying oneself from ritual impurity in such cases where there is no access to clean water. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive our best in order to maintain our physical and spiritual purity at all times by following the laws prescribed by Islam regarding ritual purity and cleanliness.
