Dyeing Clothes with Saffron in Islam

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) dyeing his clothes with saffron.

'Abdullah bin Zaid narrated from his father that: Ibn 'Umar used to dye his garments with saffron. He was asked about that and he said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW used to dye his clothes (with it)".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، كَانَ يَصْبُغُ ثِيَابَهُ بِالزَّعْفَرَانِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ فَقَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَصْبُغُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the practice of dyeing clothes with saffron as done by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). It is narrated by Abdullah bin Zaid from his father Ibn 'Umar that he used to dye his garments with saffron and when asked about it, he said that the Messenger of Allah used to do so as well. This shows us that dyeing clothes with saffron was a practice done by the Prophet and thus should be followed by Muslims today. It also teaches us to follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet and take him as an example for our lives. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us to be mindful of what we wear and how we present ourselves in public since it reflects on our faith and character.
