Punishment for Theft

SUMMARY: The hadith discusses the punishment for a thief, which is not financial if the Hadd punishment is carried out.

It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf that the Messenger of Allah said: "The thief is not to be penalized (financially) if the Hadd punishment is carried out on him". (Daif) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasai) said: This is Mursal and it is not confirmed.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow God's commands when punishing someone who has committed a crime like theft

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the punishment for a thief, which is not financial if the Hadd punishment is carried out. The Hadd punishments are those prescribed by Allah in the Quran and Sunnah, such as cutting off of hands or stoning to death. This hadith shows that even though stealing is wrong and punishable, it should be done according to what Allah has prescribed in His book and through His messenger's teachings. It also teaches us that we should follow what Allah has commanded us to do instead of making up our own laws or punishments.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that justice must be served when punishing someone who has committed a crime like theft. He also taught us that we must always follow what Allah has commanded in order to ensure justice and fairness in society. We should never take matters into our own hands or make up our own laws because this could lead to injustice being done against someone who may have committed a crime but does not deserve harsh punishments like cutting off their hands or stoning them to death.
