Sunan an-Nasai 4771 (Book 45, Hadith 66) #19304
Compensation for Biting

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) ruled that a man who was bitten by another on his forearm could not claim compensation as the man had put his arm in the other's mouth.

It was narrated from Safwan bin Ya'la bin Munyah that: a hired man of Ya'la bin Munyah was bitten by another on his forearm and he pulled it away from his mouth. The matter was referred to the Prophet, as his front tooth had fallen out, but the Messenger of Allah considered it an invalid claim, and said: "No,; should he put (his forearm) in your mouth for you to bite it as a stallion bites?"

QUICK LESSONS:
Referring disputes to Allah through His Messenger .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a dispute between two people, where one of them was bitten by the other on his forearm. The matter was brought to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and he ruled that no compensation should be given as it would be unfair to expect someone to put their arm in another's mouth for them to bite it like a stallion bites. This teaches us that justice must be served and no one should take advantage of others or expect something from them which is unreasonable. We must also remember that Allah ï·» knows best and we should always refer our disputes to Him through His Messenger ﷺ.
