The Blessing of Taking Loans Intending to Pay It Back

SUMMARY: Taking a loan with the intention of paying it back will be helped by Allah.

It was narrated from 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Utbah that Maimunah, the wife of the Prophet, took a loan, and it was said to her: "O Mother of the Believers, why have you taken a loan when you do not have the means to pay if off?" She said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Whoever takes a loan intending to pay it back, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, will help him"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take loans with good intentions and plans on how you can repay them .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about taking loans with good intentions and how it will be rewarded by Allah. Maimunah, the wife of Prophet Muhammad, took a loan and was asked why she did so when she didn't have means to pay it off. She replied that she heard Prophet Muhammad say that whoever takes a loan intending to pay it back, Allah will help them. This hadith teaches us that if we take loans for good reasons such as helping others or investing in something beneficial, then we should not worry because Allah will help us in our endeavors if our intentions are pure. We should also remember that taking loans without any intention or plan to pay them back is not encouraged in Islam as this can lead to debt and financial hardship for ourselves and others around us.
