Sunan an-Nasai 4582 (Book 44, Hadith 134) #19115
The Permissibility of Exchange Transactions

SUMMARY: It is permissible to exchange goods and services for money, as long as the transaction is completed on the same day.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "I used to sell camels at Al-Baqi and I would sell Dinars in exchange for Dirhams. I came to the Prophet in the house of Hafsah and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I want to ask you: I sell camels in Al-Baqi and I sell Dinars in exchange for Dirhams. He said: 'There is nothing wrong with it if you take the price on that day, unless you depart when there is still unfinished business between you both (buyer and seller)"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be honest in your dealings with others .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the permissibility of exchanging goods and services for money. It was narrated by Ibn 'Umar that he used to sell camels at Al-Baqi and exchange Dinars for Dirhams. He asked the Prophet if this was permissible, and the Prophet said that it was allowed as long as all transactions were completed on that same day, unless there was unfinished business between buyer and seller. This hadith teaches us that it is acceptable to exchange goods or services for money in a fair manner, so long as both parties are satisfied with their end of the deal. However, it also reminds us not to take advantage of others in our dealings; we should always strive to be honest in our transactions with others so that everyone involved can benefit from them equally.
