This hadith speaks about the permissibility of slaughtering animals with an object other than a knife. The narrator, Muhammad bin Safwan, caught two rabbits and was unable to find a knife with which to slaughter them. He then slaughtered them using Marwah instead and asked the Prophet if he could eat them. The Prophet said that it was permissible for him to do so. This hadith teaches us that we should be humane when slaughtering animals and that we should not cause unnecessary suffering or pain to the animal during this process. We can also learn from this hadith that even if we are unable to use the traditional method of slaughtering an animal, there are still ways in which we can do so without causing harm or distress to the animal itself.
