Obey Allah and obey the Messenger

This hadith explains the importance of obeying Allah and His Messenger, Muhammad. It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that when the verse "O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger" was revealed, he said that it was concerning Abdullah bin Hudhaifah bin Qais bin 'Adiyy whom the Messenger of Allah appointed in charge of an expedition. This hadith teaches us to be obedient to both God and His messenger as they are both sources of guidance for us. We should strive to follow their teachings in order to lead a life pleasing to God. Furthermore, this hadith also shows us how important it is for Muslims to be united under one leader or commander when going on an expedition or any other task. By following these teachings we can ensure that our actions are guided by faith rather than selfish desires or worldly ambitions.
