Sunan an-Nasai 4178 (Book 39, Hadith 30) #18711
Pledging Obedience to Allah

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the pledge taken by a group of people to not associate anything with Allah, not steal, not have unlawful sexual relations, not kill their children, not utter slander and fabricate lies and obey the Prophet when commanded with goodness.

It was narrated that Abu Idris Al-Khawlani said: "I heard 'Ubadah bin As-Samit say: 'I pledged to the Messenger of Allah among a group of people, and he said: I accept your pledge that you will not associate anything with Allah, you will not steal, you will not have unlawful sexual relations, you will not kill you children, you will not utter slander, fabricating from between your hands and feet, and you will not disobey me when commanded with goodness. Whoever fulfills (this pledge), his reward will be with Allah, and whoever commits any of these actions and is punished for it, it will be purification for him. Whoever (commits any of these action then) Allah conceals him, it is up to Allah; if He wills He will forgive him, and if He wills, He will punish him"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
- Fulfill your promises made in front of God Almighty , Obey the commands given by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about a pledge taken by a group of people in front of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. They promised that they will never associate anything with Allah, never steal or commit any kind of unlawful sexual relations or kill their own children or utter slander and fabricate lies and obey the Prophet when commanded with goodness. The reward for fulfilling this pledge will be from Allah Himself while if someone commits any of these actions but is punished for it then it will be considered as purification for him. If Allah conceals his sins then it is up to Him whether He forgives him or punishes him accordingly. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to fulfill our promises made in front of God Almighty as He rewards us greatly for doing so while also teaching us that if we do wrong but are punished for it then even that can be seen as purification from our sins in His eyes. It also teaches us that no matter how much wrong we do, if God wills He can forgive us too so we should always seek His forgiveness whenever possible.
