Standing for Justice and Obeying the Messenger of Allah

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the pledge of obedience to the Messenger of Allah, and to stand for justice wherever we may be, without fear of criticism.

It was narrated that 'Ubadah bin As-Samit said: "We pledged to the Messenger of Allah to hear and obey during our hardship and our ease, when we felt energetic and when we felt tired, that we would not contend with the orders of whomever was entrusted with it, that we would stand for justice wherever we may be, and that we would not fear the blame of any blamer for the sake of Allah.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about a pledge that was made by 'Ubadah bin As-Samit and his companions to the Messenger of Allah. They promised to obey him in all circumstances, whether they were feeling energetic or tired. They also promised not to disobey those who were entrusted with authority, and that they would stand up for justice no matter what. Lastly, they pledged not to be afraid of criticism from anyone when doing so in order to please Allah. This hadith teaches us that it is important for us as Muslims to always strive towards justice even if it means facing criticism from others; this is because pleasing Allah should always come first in our lives above all else.
