Punishment for Muslims Who Commit Crimes

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that if a Muslim commits a crime, they will be punished for it even if they join the disbelievers before being caught.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said, : Concerning the statement of Allah, the Most High: The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger".This Verse was revealed concerning the idolators. Whoever among them repents before he is captured, you have no way against him. This Verse does not apply to the Muslims. Whoever kills, spreads mischief in the land, and wages war against Allah and His Messenger, then joins the disbelievers before he can be caught, there is nothing to prevent the Hadd punishment being carried out on him because of what he did".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that if a Muslim commits a crime, such as waging war against Allah and His Messenger or spreading mischief in the land, then joins the disbelievers before he can be caught, there is nothing to prevent them from receiving punishment. However, this does not apply to those who repent before being captured. The punishment mentioned here is known as Hadd punishment which is carried out according to Islamic law. It teaches us that we should always strive to do good deeds and avoid committing any crimes or sins so that we can stay away from punishments of any kind. We should also remember to repent whenever we make mistakes so that our sins can be forgiven by Allah Almighty.
