Fighting for Faith

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the commandment to fight those who do not believe in Allah until they say La ilaha illallah, and how Abu Bakr and Umar responded to this commandment.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW said: 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they say La ilaha illallah. If they say it then their blood and their wealth are safe from me, except for a right that is due, and their reckoning will be with Allah'. When the people apostatized, 'Umar said to Abu Bakr: 'Will you fight them when you heard the Messenger of Allah SAW say such and such?' He said: 'By Allah, I do not separate Salah and Zakah, and I will fight whoever separates them'. So we fought alongside him, and we realized that that was the right thing".

QUICK LESSONS:
Stand up for your beliefs , Pray & Give Charity

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of faith in Allah and how it should be defended. The Prophet Muhammad was commanded by Allah to fight those who did not believe in Him until they said La ilaha illallah, which means there is no god but Allah. This shows that faith is something that must be protected and defended at all costs. When some people apostatized, Umar asked Abu Bakr if he would fight them even though the Prophet Muhammad had said such a thing. Abu Bakr replied that he would never separate prayer and charity from each other, so he fought alongside Umar for what was right. This teaches us that we must always stand up for our beliefs even when it may seem difficult or dangerous to do so. We must also remember to always pray and give charity as these are two important acts of worship which will bring us closer to Allah.
