Keeping Wealth for Oneself

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad advised Ka'b bin Malik to keep some of his wealth for himself when he wanted to give all of it away in charity.

'Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik narrated from his father, that he said to the Messenger of Allah -when his repentance was accepted: "O Messenger of Allah! I want to give all my wealth in charity for Allah and His Messenger". The Messenger of Allah said to him: "Keep some of your wealth for yourself; that is better for you".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of keeping some wealth for oneself. The Prophet Muhammad advised Ka'b bin Malik to keep some of his wealth for himself when he wanted to give all of it away in charity. This hadith teaches us that while giving charity is important, we should also take care of ourselves and our families by keeping a portion of our wealth. We should not be so generous that we put ourselves and our families at risk financially. It is important to strike a balance between giving charity and taking care of ourselves and our families. We can still be generous with what we have, but not so much that it puts us in a difficult financial situation or causes us harm in any way.
