Women and Gift Giving

SUMMARY: It is not permissible for a woman to give a gift from her wealth when her husband has marital authority over her.

It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah said: "It is not permissible for a woman to give a gift from her wealth, once her husband has marital authority over her". This is the wording of (one of the narrators) Muhammad.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your spouse's rights in marriage; be mindful when it comes to your partner's possessions; seek permission before giving away any possession belonging to your spouse; follow Islamic teachings on marriage and relationships between spouses.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that it is not permissible for a woman to give away any of her wealth as a gift if she is married and under the marital authority of her husband. This means that if the woman has money or possessions of any kind, she cannot give them away without permission from her husband. The Prophet Muhammad taught this in order to protect the rights of both spouses in marriage and ensure that no one takes advantage of their partner's wealth without their consent. This hadith also teaches us about the importance of respecting each other's rights in marriage and being mindful of our actions when it comes to our partner's possessions.
