Divorce in Islam

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was angered when he heard about a man who had divorced his wife with three simultaneous divorces and asked if the Book of Allah was being toyed with while he was still alive.

Makhramah narrated that his father said: "I heard Mahmud bin Labid say: 'The Messenger of Allah was told about a man who had divorced his wife with three simultaneous divorces. He stood up angrily and said: Is the Book of Allah being toyed with while I am still among you? Then a man stood up and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, shall I kill him?'"

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect for marriage, following Islamic law, using divorce as a last resort after exhausting other options.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of marriage in Islam and how it should be taken seriously. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was angered when he heard that a man had divorced his wife with three simultaneous divorces, which is not allowed according to Islamic law. He asked if the Book of Allah, which contains all the laws and teachings of Islam, was being toyed with while he was still alive. This shows how important marriage is in Islam and how it should be respected by all Muslims. It also shows that divorce should only be used as a last resort after all other options have been exhausted.
