Seek advice from elders/religious leaders before making major decisions; Give reasonable amounts for gifts/money on special occasions; Be generous when giving gifts/money

This hadith is about marriage and dowries. The Prophet Muhammad asked 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf how much he had given as a dowry to his wife from the Ansar tribe. He replied that it was five dirhams of gold, which pleased the Prophet. This hadith teaches us that it is important to give a reasonable amount of money or goods as a dowry when getting married.
