Sunan an-Nasai 3316 (Book 26, Hadith 121) #17928
Respecting Family Ties

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of respecting family ties, even if they are not related by blood.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "Aflah, the brother of Abu Al-Qu'ais, who was my paternal uncle through breast-feeding, used to ask permission to enter upon me, and I refused to let him in until the Messenger of Allah came, and I told him about that. He said: 'Let him in, for he is your paternal uncle'." 'Aishah said: "That was after the (Verse of) Hijab had been revealed".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of respecting family ties, even if they are not related by blood. It was narrated that 'Aishah said that her paternal uncle through breast-feeding used to ask permission to enter upon her and she refused until the Messenger of Allah came and told her to let him in because he was still her uncle. This shows us that we should respect our family members regardless of how we are related to them. We should also be mindful when it comes to granting permission for people who want access into our lives or homes as this is a sign of respect for ourselves and others.
