Abu Hurairah's Commitment to Battle Expedition

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Abu Hurairah's commitment to the battle expedition in India and his willingness to sacrifice himself for it.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah promised us (a) battle expedition (in) India. If I live to see that, I will expend myself and my wealth in it. If I am killed, I will be one of the best of the martyrs, and if I come back, I will be Abu Hurairah Al-Muharrar". 1 1 Al-Muharrar: The one freed (from the Fire).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the commitment of Abu Hurairah, a companion of Prophet Muhammad, towards a battle expedition in India. He was willing to expend himself and his wealth for this cause and if he were killed, he would be one of the best martyrs. If he returned from this mission alive, he would be known as "Abu Hurairah Al-Muharrar", which means "the one freed from the fire". This hadith teaches us that we should always strive for noble causes even if it requires sacrificing our lives or wealth. We should also have faith that Allah will reward us with something better than what we have given up for His sake.
