Performing Umrah During Hajj

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) entered Ihram for Hajj and allowed those who wanted to make it Umrah to do so.

It was narrated that Ibn Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah came on the fourth day of Dhul-Hijjah having entered Ihram for Hajj. He prayed Subh in Al-Batha and said: 'Whoever wants to make it Umrah, let him do so'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform both rituals of Hajj and Umrah if one wishes to do so .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) entered Ihram for Hajj on the fourth day of Dhul-Hijjah. He prayed Subh in Al-Batha and then said that whoever wants to make it Umrah, let him do so. This hadith teaches us that during Hajj, one can also perform Umrah if they wish to do so. It is important to note that performing both rituals at once is not mandatory but rather an option given by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This hadith also shows us how generous and kind the Prophet was towards his followers as he gave them this opportunity even though it was not necessary.
