The Importance of Riding Animals

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad saw a man driving a Badanah and encouraged him to ride it, warning him of the consequences if he did not.

It was narrated from Anas that: the Messenger of Allah saw a man driving a Badanah and said: "Ride it". He said: "It is Badanah". He said: "Ride it". He said: "It is a Badanah". The fourth time he said: Ride it, woe to you!"
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَأَى رَجُلاً يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ ارْكَبْهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ ارْكَبْهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ قَالَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ ‏"‏ ارْكَبْهَا وَيْلَكَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of riding animals. It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah saw a man driving a Badanah and said to him, “Ride it” three times. When the man refused for the fourth time, he warned him saying “woe to you!” This shows us that we should take advantage of our resources and use them in beneficial ways. We should also be mindful when we are given advice or warnings as they may be for our own benefit in the long run.
