Allah's Mercy on Travelers

SUMMARY: Allah has granted travelers the permission to not fast and to shorten their prayers.

Abu Qilabah AL-Jarmi narrated that Abu Umayyah Ad-Damri told them that: he came to the Messenger of Allah from a journey and he said: "Come and have a meal for breakfast, O Abu Umayyah". I said: 'I am fasting; He said: 'Come close and I will tell you about the traveler. Allah, most high, has waived fasting and half of the prayer for him"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be thankful for blessings from God while travelling

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the mercy of Allah towards travelers. It was narrated by Abu Qilabah AL-Jarmi that Abu Umayyah Ad-Damri came to the Messenger of Allah from a journey and he said "Come and have a meal for breakfast, O Abu Umayyah". Since he was fasting, he replied that he was fasting. The Prophet then said "Come close and I will tell you about the traveler. Allah, most high, has waived fasting and half of the prayer for him". This hadith shows us how merciful our Lord is towards those who are traveling; He has given them permission to not fast or pray in full if they are unable due to their journey. We should be thankful for this blessing from our Lord as it makes it easier for us when we travel long distances or have limited time during our travels.
