This hadith is about following the Islamic calendar and fasting during Ramadan. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet Muhammad said that when you see a new crescent in the sky, it marks the beginning of a new month in which Muslims should fast. If it is too cloudy to see it, then Muslims should complete thirty days of fasting.
