Burial Practices of the Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: Sa'd asked to be buried in a grave with bricks set up around it, similar to the way the Prophet Muhammad was buried.

It was narrated that Sa'd said: "Make a niche for me in the side of the grave and set up (bricks) over me as was done for the Messenger of Allah".
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ ‏:‏ الْحَدُوا لِي لَحْدًا، وَانْصِبُوا عَلَىَّ نَصْبًا كَمَا فُعِلَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ
