Compassion and Kindness in Times of Grief

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed compassion and kindness to Jabir's father, who was mutilated on the day of Uhud, by comforting the daughter of 'Amr.

Jabir said: "My father was brought on the day of Uhud and he had been mutilated. He was placed in front of the Messenger of Allah covered with a cloth. I wanted to uncover him but my people forbade me to do so. The Prophet ordered that he was lifted up, he heard the voice of a woman weeping. He said: 'Who is this?' They said: 'This is the daughter of 'Amr, or the sister of 'Amr'. He said: 'Do not weep, or 'She should not weep, for the angels kept on shading him with their wings until he was lifted up,""

QUICK LESSONS:
Show compassion & kindness towards others even during times of grief

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) compassion and kindness towards Jabir's father, who was mutilated on the day of Uhud. When he was brought before the Prophet, a woman began to weep. The Prophet asked who she was and when he found out it was 'Amr's daughter or sister, he comforted her by saying that angels had been shading his father with their wings until he had been lifted up. This shows us that even in times of grief we should show compassion and kindness towards others as this is what our beloved prophet did. We should also remember that Allah will always be with us no matter what happens in life so we should never lose hope or faith in Him.
