Praying Two Rak'ahs Before Fajr

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad used to pray two brief rak'ahs before Fajr.

Ibn Umar said: "Hafsah told me that the Messenger of Allah used to pray two brief rak'ahs before Fajr, and that was after dawn had broken".
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَرْكَعُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ مَا يَطْلُعُ الْفَجْرُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad used to pray two brief rak’ahs before the dawn prayer of fajr. A rak’ah is a unit of prayer and consists of standing up, bowing down and prostrating on the ground in submission to Allah. The Prophet Muhammad taught us that it is important to pray at least two rak’ahs before fajr as this will bring us closer to Allah and help us start our day with a spiritual connection. It is also important for Muslims to be mindful of when dawn breaks so they can begin their prayers on time.
