Sahih al-Bukhari 160 (Book 4, Hadith 26) #160
The Power of Prayer in Forgiveness

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that if a person performs ablution perfectly and then offers the compulsory congregational prayer, Allah will forgive his sins committed between that (prayer) and the (next) prayer till he offers it.

After performing the ablution 'Uthman said, "I am going to tell you a Hadith which I would not have told you, had I not been compelled by a certain Holy Verse (the sub narrator 'Urwa said: This verse is: "Verily, those who conceal the clear signs and the guidance which we have sent down.)" (2:159). I heard the Prophet saying, 'If a man performs ablution perfectly and then offers the compulsory congregational prayer, Allah will forgive his sins committed between that (prayer) and the (next) prayer till he offers it.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the power of prayer in forgiveness. It was narrated by Uthman ibn Affan who said that he heard Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saying that if a person performs ablution perfectly and then offers the compulsory congregational prayer, Allah will forgive his sins committed between that prayer and the next one until he offers it again. This means that when we pray, we are asking for forgiveness from Allah for our mistakes. We should strive to perform ablution perfectly before each prayer so we can receive this blessing from Allah. Additionally, praying in congregation has even more rewards as it is an act of unity among believers which is highly encouraged in Islam.
