Praying Five Rak'ahs and Prostrations of Forgetfulness

SUMMARY: This hadith is about Alqamah praying five rak'ahs and Ibrahim bin Suwaid questioning him, to which Alqamah responded by prostrating two prostrations of forgetfulness.

It was narrated that Ibrahim said: "Alqamah prayed five (rak'ahs) and when he said the taslim, Ibrahim bin Suwaid said : 'O Abu Shibl, you prayed five!' He said: 'Is that true, O odd-eyed one?' Then he prostrated two prostrations of forgetfulness, then he said: 'This is what the Messenger of Allah did'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful during prayers; do not make any mistakes or forget any parts while praying.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer in Islam. It was narrated that Ibrahim said that Alqamah prayed five rak'ahs and when he said the taslim, Ibrahim bin Suwaid questioned him on why he prayed five instead of four. To this question, Alqamah responded by prostrating two prostrations of forgetfulness as a sign that he had made a mistake in his prayer. This shows us how important it is to be mindful during our prayers and not make any mistakes or forget any parts while we are praying. Additionally, it also teaches us the importance of humility when we make mistakes; even if someone questions us on our actions or words we should remain humble and accept our mistake without getting angry or defensive.
