Supplication Against Hypocrites

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) supplicated against some of the hypocrites, and Allah revealed to him that it is not his decision to punish or pardon them, as they are wrongdoers.

It was narrated from Salim, from his father, that: He heard the Prophet , when he raised his head in the last rak'ah of the subh prayer, say: "O Allah, curse so-and-so and so-and-so," supplicating against some of the hypocrites. Then Allah revealed the words: "Not for you is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to (pardon) them or punishes them; verily, they are the wrongdoers".

QUICK LESSONS:
Leave matters up to God's judgement; do not take matters into your own hands; remember everyone will be held accountable for their actions; practice patience when dealing with difficult situations.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the Prophet's supplication against some of the hypocrites. The Prophet was asking Allah to curse them for their wrongdoings, but then Allah revealed to him that it is not his decision whether He turns in mercy to pardon them or punishes them; rather, they are the wrongdoers and will be held accountable for their actions. This hadith teaches us that we should never take matters into our own hands and try to seek revenge on those who have done us wrong; instead, we should leave it up to God who knows best what is right and just. We must also remember that everyone will be held accountable for their actions in this life and in the hereafter.
