Following in the Footsteps of the Prophet

SUMMARY: Umar bin Al-Khattab saw the Prophet Muhammad kissing the Black Stone and followed suit.

Narrated Zaid bin Aslam that his father said: "I saw 'Umar bin Al-Khattab kissing the Black Stone and he then said, (to it) 'Had I not seen Allah's Apostle kissing you, (stone) I would not have kissed you'. "
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا وَرْقَاءُ، أَخْبَرَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَبَّلَ الْحَجَرَ وَقَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَبَّلَكَ مَا قَبَّلْتُكَ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Umar bin Al Khattab, a companion of Prophet Muhammad, who saw him kiss the Black Stone during his pilgrimage to Makkah. Umar was so inspired by this act that he followed suit and kissed it himself. This hadith teaches us that we should follow in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet and take inspiration from his actions. We should strive to emulate his example in all aspects of our lives, as it is a sure way to gain Allah's pleasure.
