Sunan an-Nasai 789 (Book 10, Hadith 13) #15397
The Power of Memorizing Quran at a Young Age

SUMMARY: A young boy was chosen to lead the prayer because he had memorized the most Quran at a young age.

'Amr bin Salamah Al-Jarmi said: "Riders used to pass by us and we would leam the Qur'an from them. My father came to the Prophet and he said: 'Let the one of you who knows most Qur'an leads the prayer'. My father came and said that the Messenger of Allah had said: 'Let the one of you who knows most Quran lead you in prayer'. They looked and found that I was the one who knew most Qur'an, so I used to lead them in prayer when I was eight years old'.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the power of memorizing and understanding the Quran from an early age. It shows that even children can be capable of leading others in prayer if they have put in enough effort to learn and understand it. The Prophet Muhammad is also seen as encouraging this, as he asked for someone who knew most of the Qur'an to lead them in prayer. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to learn and understand our religion from an early age, so that we can become leaders in our communities and help guide others on their spiritual journey.
