Sunan an-Nasai 635 (Book 7, Hadith 10) #15243
Teaching Prayer at Home

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) showed compassion and mercy to young men who visited him, and advised them to return home and teach their families about prayer.

It was narrated that Malik bin Al-Huwairith said: "We came to the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) and we were young men close in age. He let us stay with him for twenty days. The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) was merciful and compassionate, and he thought that we were missing our families; he asked us about those whom we had left behind of our families, so we told him, and he said: 'Go back to your families, stay with them and teach them. Tell them when the time for prayer comes; let one of you call the Adhan and let the oldest of you lead the prayer'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Be kind towards others; Take responsibility in teaching your family members about religious practices such as praying on time with an Adhan call and having someone lead it properly according to Islamic teachings .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Malik bin Al-Huwairith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad was a compassionate man who showed mercy to those around him, even strangers like the young men who visited him for twenty days. He understood that they were missing their families back home and so he advised them to go back home and teach their families about prayer - specifically how to call the Adhan for prayer time, as well as how the oldest person in the family should lead it when it is time for prayer. This hadith teaches us that we should be kind towards others, especially those younger than us or those we do not know very well; it also teaches us that we should take responsibility in teaching our family members about religious practices such as praying on time with an Adhan call and having someone lead it properly according to Islamic teachings - this is a responsibility of every Muslim household!
